Why Jib Crane Is Prevailing In Almost All Industries?

A crane is a type of machine that is generally used to lift and lower heavy materials and also for moving them horizontally. Mostly cranes are used in the manufacturing industries or in civil engineering works. Types of cranes used depend upon the amount of weight to be lifted and the area where the cranes move. Jib Crane is a type of crane that consists of a pillar fixed to the wall or mounted on the floor.

These Light Crane Systems have a pillar that supports the horizontal jib or boom which has a movable hoist. The hoist is used for lifting or lowering a load with the help of a drum or lift wheel that has a chain or rope wrapped around it. The drum or the lift wheel can be operated electrically or manually. A chain, a fiber rope or wire cable can be used as a lifting medium and a hook is attached at one end to help loading of the crane.

The term ‘jib crane’ is a broad term used to refer to all cranes that have a rotating boom attached to a vertical beam or floor. Common models of these light weight cranes are floor mounted and self supported. These models are more common than over-head cranes as they take much less time and are capable of lifting more items. The most three common type of jib cranes are
  • Floor mounted type
  • Wall mounted (fixed)
  • Wall mounted(travelling)
