The bridge crane includes two overhead runways built into the
building support structure. A single or double bridge helps in movement
of the crane. The trolley and hoist run side by side along the bridge
which comes in two variations: single girder and double girder. The
other variation could be top running and under hug running of trolley
and hoist.
A single girder bridge crane consists of one girder beam supported on
each side by an end truck. The trolley and the hoist run on the bottom
rim of the crane. This version of crane is less expensive and you can
install it faster when compared to other models.
Like the single girder crane, double girder crane's bridge is
supported by an end truck on each side but the double girder model has
two beams that make up the bridge. The trolley and hoist run on a rail
installed above or below the bridge girders. This version of bridge
crane is used for heavy duty application for longer spans.
